All tuition and equipment for pool training is provided free of charge (all club income goes toward equipment upkeep and pool hire). However, it is advisable to purchase your own mask & snorkel (around £40). You will also need to hire equipment for any open water dives at around £30 - £40 per day.
On joining BSAC you will receive a qualification record book. All your training will be recorded in this book. For convenience you can also apply for a credit card sized qualification card which is useful when travelling. Diving is an undoubtedly an expensive sport (but well worth it!). However, there are various ways to limit the cost. Most people start off by renting equipment and diving abroad is now a cost effective and enjoyable means of acquiring experience.
